Thanks for posting! One question: How do you keep your dialogue from looking obviously digital against hand-drawn bubbles and art?

Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents and techniques with the community!!!! I love the combination of old and new school. There are some wonderful touches that can only be done with more advanced digital technology, but theres something about using ink on paper that is just magical and unique!! :D

I just started inking a few days ago... my scanner hates it xD
So how do you ink with colors?
(The black works perfect!)

im a rubbish inker so any advice is welcome, i especially like the 1st draft being used as a template for the final inking as my main problem is composing the black and white elements on the page

Yes, I think the technique is called "blocking in" or just "blocking". A trick normally used in painting.

What's nice about it is, it does make the page look defined even if the linework is still pretty loose.

500 ung set?

I think copic makes the pseudo foam brush pens you mentioned. They run out pretty quickly though.

Yeah, that's it! The pen I got a different handle though but the nib is correct. What are they called?

It's a great pen. The tip doesn't split apart like normal pen brushes.

....I think just brush pen or brush multiliner?

The brand in the picture is copic multiliner brush. It's the only brand I've seen in Australia with that sort of nib, but maybe you can get others over the internet.

great tutorial man. i've honestly never seen anyone sketch and ink like you do... it looks a lot more efficient... the only problem i have is that my scanner is tiny and my printer sucks... so in the end i would have to do a lot of peicing things together physically and digitally... blah.

i'm working on a new project this weekend actually and will have 2 full colored manga pages written, illustrated and colored all by me, posted on here before monday :)

Looks pretty standard, and the outcome is tight. I used to do it that way before I realized my unsteady hand was no good for traditional inking, and I resorted to digital.

I'm the other way around, I hate drawing digitally. Everything takes forever in my case when I go that route, couldn't improve my hand-eye coordination.
