eBay and getting feedbacks

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 7, 2012, 9:20 PM

I'm new to eBay.

I've bought a couple of old G.I.Joes and noticed the feedback section and now I have a few questions for those more experienced than me regarding them:

Are feedbacks important?

Should a buyer request feedback after paying?

What do I do if I asked for a positive feedback for prompt payment
and seller still won't you give feedback and demands that he/she only
gives one after getting one even though item hasn't arrived yet?

I think that's it.

Just saw this and you've had some good advice...and some not so good :) So thought I would chip in...as I have a very succesful Ebay shop and have been selling as a business for 5 years...sooooo

Sellers CANNOT leave negative feedback...so don't worry whether they do or don't leave any...

As a seller I NEVER look at a buyer's feedback unless and until there is a problem - it usually just confirms that there will be a problem :)

As a buyer you shouldn't leave feedback until you receive the item and are happy with your purchase - However, if you do leave positive feedback and have a problem you can still make a claim if the item doesn't turn up or isn't as described...ou won't be able to alert other buyers that the seller is shifty B*******...which is the point of feedback...

And lastly...Ebay almost always finds in favour of buyers, if there is a problem...so, really Ebay is a very safe to shop :)

On another note....hope you are doing well...we have a regular gig drawing erotica...Adam is in his element ...hehehe!

Oh, nothing specific. I just used to shop with ebay (and sell a little) a few years ago, and with the economy and some of the newer stuff ebay has done it just seems like the site isn't as good as it once was. It's probably not a big deal if you only use it to buy things though. ^^;

As to the feedback thing, it's nothing to sweat over. When you get the item, usually you'll give the seller positive or negative feedback, which helps their reputation and looks better to future buyers. They will give you feedback eventually, which will make you look like a more reputable buyers to sellers should you decide to buy in the future. By no means is feedback required, but it makes everyone look better all around. There is also no need to try and rush it. I hope this helps. :)

Sellers can't really "ding" a buyer. Sellers *should* leave feedback as soon as the transaction is paid for, but most wait until the buyer either notifies them that all is good or until the buyer leaves feedback first. As a buyer, I refuse to leave feedback first. I assume all transactional risk up front; the seller should take some risk as well, imo.

Feedback is important because it's the only way to gauge whether a complete stranger is trustworthy or not.
Never leave feedback for anyone until your transaction is satisfactorily concluded.
