Cartoons and other tid bits

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 19, 2010, 10:00 AM

Is there any cartoon show on tv that you prevent your kids from watching?

I just saw Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and w o w . . .
Wonder Woman looked like a kickass Jennifer Connelly there.
Jennifer Connelly, me love you long time.

I've left Facebook. Been weeks now. It's a fokkin waste of time.

I crammed everything here because I don't want to make a new Journal post

My daughter is watching the Lilo and Stitch series right now and shes rolling around laughing. She does not like to watch anything that is not cute or involve fairies so I don't really have to keep her away from any cartoons.

I don't have kids (and never will), but let's PRETEND that I do for a moment:

A lot of stuff on Disney Channel, like My Life Me, Totally Spies, Kick... (something).

And, I know this should be a given, but when I was a teacher, I had so many kids with irresponsible parents who let them watch cartoons meant for adults like The Simpsons and Family Guy. Those are the same kids who are allowed to play Grand Theft Auto at 3rd grade.

No kids yet, but I work with lots of children (just babysitting or tutoring them chemistry in middle school)

No TV for kids until certain age. These days they ram various brainwashing adds that can be harmful for kids mental and creative development. But if we do come down to showing them DVDs, they'll have right to watch toons one hour in evening, unless it's stuff like Ben ten. Of course, pre-watched by parent.

No Ben Ten for 'em till they are 9 or 10, I saw very violent development on kids when parents show them unappropriated toons when they are 4, usually destructive behavior. Kids until that age should watch stuff that gives them awearnes that they are not center of universe.

Well, if I had kids, I wouldn't allow them to watch the tv simply so they don't get all the advertisements crammed down their throat.
Cartoon wise, I think I'd let them watch almost anything, trying to avoid those "uncomfortable questions" is kind of insulting to their intelligence.

Im not to that point yet, shes still a little too young and she doesnt care much about tv anyway.

But I hope I can keep her away from teletubbies, those things are so creepy.

There are lots. Up until recently I didn't let them watch Tom and Jerry, one of the most violent cartoons ever. The problem was that the violence had no consequence so from personal experience I thought it wise to avoid those kinds of shows.

I guess I am strange then. My sensibilities had me mimic sticking a pencil under someone as she sat on it. It wasn't funny and I was horrified, but that's me. I figure my kids would think like me so I did what I thought prudent. They are old enough to watch it now, though.

don't have kiddies, but have little bros and godchildren. I don't like them looking at anything that will bring up too many questions they would not understand. to simplify it: I would not allow them to look at anything that's not on PBS kids and the learning channel. Disney channel is too grown for the little ones, I mean how many kissing situations does an eight year old need to be exposed to? they just need to know not to talk to strangers, do their work and if they are going to "settle things", no weapons (lol). sorry for the rant, the godchildren's mom lets them watch Family Guy, then wonders why they say the things they do. go. friggin'. figure. but to be a complete hypocrite, I sneaked and watched beavis and buthead and ren and stimpy when I was 10.

if I had kids, it would be sponge bob, I hate that show and for some reason I believe it promotes stupidity.
